DRINKS, DOUGHNUTS AND DISCUSSION – HWJC young adults evening
Dear members –
We are delighted to invite all HWJC members aged between 20 and 35 to join for drinks, doughnuts and discussionon Tuesday 3 December at7.30pm to celebrate Chanukah. This is a continuation in the series of 'Ask the Rabbi' sessions which we began with a well-attended discussion group on Yom Kippur. At HWJC, we are passionate about continuing engagement with our young adult membership and would like to see a strong turnout for what promises to be an informal and stimulating evening.
Please join us for candle-lighting, a light supper, doughnuts and drinks – and hear Rabbi Yoni's thoughts on topical questions such as:
What do I say when my children ask me if Chanukah is the Jewish Christmas? How can our simple candles possibly compete with all the trappings of Christmas?
Why is it that all Jewish festivals seem to revolve around eating unhealthy food? Is there no way to be traditional and healthy?!
Can a lab-created burger ever be kosher?
Are parents responsible for a child's actions?
Can Judaism and Feminism ever be compatible?
Please come ready with challenging questions on all aspects of Jewish thinking, law, traditions and practice – Chanukah-themed or otherwise – for a thought-provoking discussion.
